Handy Pro Review

This Handy Pro Review is an honest sub contractor account of services by Handy.com

Please note that further into this article I am going to discuss a very unfair practice of Handy and one you may want to consider before doing any jobs for them. If you want to look at it now, scroll down to Handy Reviews section.

I have an investment services company Basictech Investment Services LLP. I am a business consultant specializing in helping investors and home owners get their property ready to sell.

I also have other services, but that is not the point of this review. This website was created as an avenue to create awareness of scams when I find them. I do not make any money off of Basictech-News.com.

This is important because there are a lot of review sites that create good reviews to fool people into thinking the company is better than it really is. These are created by affiliates or the company itself.

About Basictech and Randy Baith

This article is not about me, however I do want to give a little information about myself and experience in this space.

Networking is huge when it comes to business. I have been using Handy as a source for new clients and extra income since 2019. I have 30+ years experience in Home Improvements. I decided to go back to school in 2010 and change my career due to the housing bubble in 2008, there was no work.

About Handy

Handy is a free app that enables contractors and handy people to claim jobs without lead fees. they are a third party provider that contracts with Home Advisor, Wayfare, Angi, Lowe’s, and Wal-Mart just to name a few.

Here are some examples of the jobs that had been made available.

Made through Home adviser Tree removal – Thirty five ft catalpa that sits between a fence line and my neighbors backyard needs cut down and the tree removed the property 30 – 40 ft tree (pay $120.00) (That is a tree larger than a 3 story house).

This one is also made through Home Advisor garage door -Needs a 16ft garage door, key pad and car opener installed (Does not have door or other stuff) The customer expects the installer to provide the door and trust he will be reimbursed. Pay $105.00 are you kidding me?

Booking made through Home Advisor

Job 1: Purchase and installation of metal racks for a bedroom closet. (I have photos to show what I mean) The old racks fell from the wall.

Job 2: Put up one set of window blinds (I have the blinds)

Job 3: Slight adjust of a kitchen cabinet door and a lazy Suzann door. Both doors are ajar (I have photos) Photos were not included in the description Pay for all this is $75.00

These are just a few examples, but to be fair, you can make some good money. Sometimes the job is way easier than described, other times it is way harder than described. It is really hit or miss because the descriptions are often not what the customer wanted.

Recently I took a job to paint 1 room, pay was $126.00. The description said the room was empty, and the ceiling and trim was not to be painted, so I took the job. When I got there, I found out that the woman wanted the whole 3 bedroom house painted, and the time limit was 3 hours.

The homeowner called them to complain, so they blamed me telling the customer that I took the job so I was suppose to paint the whole house. This is something they will do consistently. It seems they never take responsibility for their mistakes.

The trouble is that if you cannot do the job for some reason, they will give you a bad rating and/or fine you, so I pained actually 2 rooms for her (living and dining room combo.

It took me longer than 3 hours, and they did not compensate me for the extra time, although they say they will if the customer calls to request it. Instead, they gave me a bad rating on the job.

They tell you that you will get reimbursed for special equipment rental. I am still waiting on my reimbursement for a scaffold rental to hang a ceiling fan 20 ft in the air. As of today it has been 2 weeks, and they keep giving me the run around.

Customer Service

They suck, they will give you the run around with generic responses and mostly blaming you for their failures. Once the job is completed, the job number and description disappears, yet they expect you to give the information while making a complaint, inquiry, or getting a reimbursement.

I could go on about the failures and incompetency of this company, but I will leave it right here. Use at your own discretion. and you can read more reviews here. The people making complaints are telling truth from my own experiences. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them below.
